Sam Burack was a trolley conductor and bus driver in New Haven. He and his wife Edith had two children, Sherman and Kenneth. Sam was close to his father Chatzkel, living downstairs from him his entire life.

"As a child, I remember meeting my father while he was on his bus route, so I could bring him his lunch. Then I would ride on the bus 'til the end of the line, and then I would help him turn back the seats on the trolley." - son Kenneth
